We’re pleased to confirm that Arhag will be joining the Hyde Group from 1 April 2026.

This news follows a six-week consultation with residents.

Today (4 March 2026), the Boards of Arhag Housing Association and The Hyde Group are announcing that Arhag will join the Hyde Group from 1 April 2026.

The decision to go ahead follows consultation with Arhag customers, and the move provides Arhag with stability and the opportunity to continue delivering its commitment to a great home for everyone.

By joining the Hyde Group, which owns or manages around 125,000 homes - many of which are in or neighbouring areas where Arhag provides homes - Arhag customers will benefit from a landlord that is:

  • more financially robust, with greater capacity to invest in existing homes
  • able to deliver better repairs and maintenance through combined expertise
  • focused on improving customer service, including faster response times
  • committed to a strong local presence in neighbourhoods
  • expanding resident involvement, influence and feedback mechanisms
  • and better able to deliver new homes in areas of high need.

Arhag customers were consulted over a six-week period, which included in-person and online events, and all customers were contacted by letter to encourage them to take part in the consultation through online and paper feedback forms, as well as speaking directly to colleagues.

Anne McLoughlin, Interim Chief Executive Officer at Arhag, said:

“This move provides Arhag with stability and the opportunity to provide customers with a stronger and better service. We share a commitment with Hyde to work closely with customers and communities, and I’m excited about the benefits Hyde will be able to offer.

“I want to thank all those customers who took part in the consultation exercise. We’ve listened to the feedback and our Board studied this closely when making the decision to go ahead.”

Andy Hulme, Group Chief Executive at the Hyde Group, commented:

"I’m delighted that both Boards have agreed to go ahead, after consulting with Arhag’s customers. Throughout the process so far, we’ve found a real alignment of purpose between the organisations, which is routed in putting customers first.

“We look forward to welcoming Arhag customers into the Hyde Group.”

Arhag will join Hyde as a subsidiary. The consultation also invited customers to share their views on the proposal to complete a Transfer of Engagements; the legal process used to transfer Arhag’s assets, liabilities and responsibilities into the new group structure. It is expected that this will take place within six months.
